Women of the World Festival- May 20, 21 2017-Storyhouse Chester

Frustrated with the burial of female voices across history, we found inspiration in those that rang out loud and proud across the Arab world thousands of years ago.
The words of these poets challenge preconceptions of faith, of class, of the female experience long ago; they capture what it is to relish life and living.
'Female Lust' showcases these breathtaking poems full of longing and lust, pride and defiance, all sublime in their intensity.
"All lovers wear my castoff clothes and jewels
And gulp down my overspilt drink.
I have raced with lovers at love's racetrack
And beaten them all at my own pace."*

Women all over the world, half from Arab and Muslim cultures, are responding to this expression of female sexuality and vitality with art.
Our show features a mix of emerging and acclaimed female artists from Palestine to Peru, Libya to Lebanon- young Spanish, Egyptian, Latvian, Saudi Arabian and Turkish photographers, painters from Syria, USA, China, British African poets, British Asian illustrators and sculptors from Japan, Egypt and Ireland among many more.
Radical Love: Female Lust was at The Crypt Gallery, London in February 2017. Next up is the Women of the World festival at Storyhouse, Chester.

All art is for sale with profits split between the artists and The Global Fund for Women helping Syrian Refugees. We are entirely self funded so please
